This is the most fantastic maple. It's rare, not because it's hard to grow, but it's hard to graft. It has leaves that have been compared to a bat's wing and they are flecked with variegation as you can see from the inset picture. It will probably always be in a container. I have had it since 2005 and it likes to be a little on the dry side, that's why it's in a clay pot.
